After more than fifty years as a summer arts camp for girls in Lenox Massachusetts, Belvoir Terrace is now offering a music program for adults, sponsored by ArtsAhimsa.
The ArtsAshima Music Festival at Belvoir Terrace offers opportunities to make music in collaboration with both amateur players and the distinguished coaching faculty. The emphasis is on the shared musical experience. Participants and faculty will play and work together. The schedule will include chamber music, chamber orchestra, instrumental and vocal lessons, chorus, recreational swimming, and tennis. Individual players as well as pre-formed groups are invited to apply.
Belvoir Terrace has excellent practice and performance facilities, and a beautiful setting. Built in 1886, Belvoir is one of the original Berkshire “cottages” from the gilded age. The town of Lenox, with galleries, restaurants, and shops, is a ten minute walk from Belvoir, and Tanglewood is only a couple of miles down the road.
Belvoir has several different housing options which include private and semi private rooms with adjacent shared baths. Some housing has kitchen facilities. Three excellent meals will be served daily in the dining room of the mansion. Housing assignments will be discussed prior to arrival.

The schedule includes three chamber music or study blocks each day, plus a chorus and recreational block in the afternoon. Evenings will have orchestra rehearsals, informal sight-reading, and/or performances. The outdoor heated swimming pool and the six tennis courts will be available for recreation.
Lenox is an easy drive from Boston and New York. Directions are available on the Belvoir Terrace website. Tuition is $1,000.00 for the week and includes chamber music coachings, ensemble rehearsals, room and board. An audition CD or DVD is required with the application, or, live auditions in New York City can be easily arranged.
Laura Goldberg is heading up the experienced faculty, which will also include Amy Lieberman, and Dr. Anne Gross. ArtsAhimsa is a not for profit music organization, dedicated to promoting nonviolence through the arts.
